Description
One thing I find quite nifty about my camera is that is has a little GPS module on board, sometimes when I don't have access to in-built gps I can use exiftool to left join a GPS track using the timestamp as a key (which really helps me when I am confused about where a picture is, and can help find a meaningful location for the entity).
I'm also sometimes unsure if I have already uploaded the file or not, realistically I'd love to be able to check using the filename and the camera name so that I can just hit a big directory of files and upload without fear of accidental duplication.
I do not know if the metadata of already uploaded material is retrievable or not, but I would like to at least have an opt-in if the user would like to retain the metadata to make the images more useful to them.
The metadata I am principally interested in is
- lat, lng
- camera name (if available)
- filename
- capture time
I don't currently use any other metadata in my own data capture day to day. This could open up large avenues for features not currently possible.
