Description
- Narrow the topic to something specific like immigration: How does immigration rates and (growth of immigration) rates affect countries' attitudes towards immigration? Our hypothesis is that countries with higher immigration (and higher growth recently) are more hostile towards immigration. We can use the DocTone column in the GDELT data along with web scraping (or the ContextualText column) to assess hostility towards immigrants.
- We must access immigration data by country and ensure it is updated frequently. World Population Review has yearly data, but we may want to look more granularly (at monthly data for instance).
- Once we compile the datasets, we must follow standard data analysis techniques, including:
a) Understanding variables: Learned how DocTone is calculated
b) Data merging: Merge immigration and GDELT data on time
c) Visualizing data: We must decide how to showcase the relationship between our datasets - Create user-interface
- Test quality assurance
- Deployment of we application
