The wrapping parentheses are unneeded here.

a_hash = {}
fail "remove this entire line, implement your solution here"
expect(a_hash.empty?).to be false

I don't think you were supposed to delete the first line: a_hash = {}. Instead, just change the fail line into something that adds one entry to a previously empty hash.
